"The Artist Residency, Henry, IL is a paid three-week summer program for undergraduate and graduate college and university students who are studying the arts. The program is open to students working in the disciplines of painting, drawing, photography, graphic design, and industrial design. The inaugural edition of The Artist Residency, Henry, IL was held in 2016. The student residents live with volunteer hosts in Henry, Illinois, a small town in Marshall County. They receive a stipend of $750 for the three week period and are provided with studio space in downtown Henry. Student residents show work created during the residency (as well as earlier) at an exhibition and reception at the end of the program. The Artist Residency, Henry, IL is a program of Henry Community CHARACTER COUNTS!, a local non-profit organization."
The Artist Residency, Henry, IL will return to Henry June 3 through June 26 for its second year. In 2016, The Artist Residency brought two artists to Henry. They lived with host families, worked downtown, and exhibited their art at an exhibit open to the public. “Our goal in 2017 is to bring three artists to Henry. “The Residency will once again culminate in a two night exhibit open to all. This year, we are also looking to have the artists engage more with the local community and hope to have them teach two workshops and end their stay in town by participating in a community project.”
Families interested in hosting an artist should contact Chuck Levesque at 312.282.8953.
We love our Artist and Community.
We look forward to the 2017 program!
